During the roundtable discussion at the Betting Trends Forum 2016 President of the Self-Regulatory Organization of Russian Bookmakers Nikolay Oganezov told about the consequences of the introduction of a tax on winnings in Russia.
On March 17 in Moscow the Betting Trends Forum 2016 took place. During the roundtable discussion at this forum President of the Self-Regulatory Organization of Russian Bookmakers Nikolay Oganezov made a talk. He told about the consequences of imposing a tax on winnings. As a reminder, the Russian government drafts a bill on taxation of winnings in betting offices amounting to more than RUB 4 thousand (USD 58). Besides, tax on the winning that amounts to more than RUB 15 thousand (USD 218) is to be paid by the betting office.
The introduction of this bill will lead to the development of illegal betting offices, especially online ones. The government should increase taxes on gambling, introduce the license fee for the website, for example. The amount of this sum should be impressive. Thus, it will allow operators work freely on the Internet. In such a case, the players will not have to pay taxes and file tax returns,

According to the President of the Self-Regulatory Organization of Russian Bookmakers, at the moment there are no betting experts among the officials drafting a bill. The government needs to establish contacts with representatives of the betting business and create the optimum legislative package, which will be beneficial to both parties.
