Tatarstan authorities have proposed to toughen legislation and introduce strict liability for the organization and conduct of illegal gambling.
The State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan proposes to complete the Tax Code of the Russian Federation with extra articles stipulating criminal responsibility for the manufacturing, sale and storage of gambling equipment without the appropriate licenses. Besides, the authorities proposed to upgrade a punishment for the conduct of illegal gambling involving very high revenues generation and abuse of official position.
Tatarstan parliamentarians propose to toughen responsibility since 135 violations were revealed in 2014 and 705 in the first half of 2015.
It is worth mentioning that 291 inspections of gambling facilities were carried out in 2015 and 45 criminal cases against 99 persons were referred to the court.
